What have we found?

We are interested in understanding the neural basis for phonological, semantic, and syntactic processes in developing children from infancy to elementary school.

The interactive specialization account (Johnson, 2011) argues that brain cortices are born with general functionality and gradually become specialized with skill and development. We aim to address the following questions about the language brain: 1. Does neural specialization also occur for various linguistic processes? 2. How does this neural specialization develop? and 3 What drives individual differences in neural specialization?
